Die Untersuchung thematisiert die Beschäftigung von Absolventen/innen technisch-naturwissenschaftlicher Studien sowie den jährlichen Zustrom an Graduierten einschlägiger Studien von den Universitäten und Fachhochschulen auf den Arbeitsmarkt. Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, Angebot und Nachfrage nach technisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Humanressourcen zu analysieren, um geeignete Anpassungsmaßnahmen ins Auge fassen zu können.
Die Untersuchung basiert auf der schriftlichen Befragung von Personalverantwortlichen in Unternehmen mit einschlägiger Qualifikationsnachfrage (zwischen April und Juni 2006 haben 187 Unternehmen mit zusammen rund 165.000 Mitarbeitern an der Erhebung teilgenommen) sowie auf der intensiven Nutzung von Statistiken über Ausbildung und Beschäftigung in technisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Studien und Berufen in Österreich und im europäischen Vergleich.

This study aims to analyse the employment situation of graduates of university-level in technology and the sciences as well as the annual influx of these graduates from university and Fachhochschule programmes into the labour market. The study also examines supply and demand for human resources specialised in technology and the sciences to identify suitable adjustment measures.
It is based on a written survey among HR managers in companies where related qualifications are in demand (between April and June 2006, a total of 187 enterprises that combined employ a staff of some 165,000 took part in the survey) as well as on exhaustive use of statistical material concerning training in study programmes, and employment in occupations, in technology and the sciences in Austria and in a European comparison.

The present publication on vocational education and training (VET) in Austria was compiled to mark the Austrian Presidency of the EU Council. It is one of a series of short descriptions forming part of the ongoing work of Cedefop on VET systems.

Ziel dieses Projektes war die Entwicklung eines Verfahrens zur Anrechnung von schulisch und betrieblich erworbenen Kompetenzen im Rahmen der Berufsausbildung im oberen Sekundarbereich. Das Verfahren wurde anhand von Qualifikationen aus den Berufsfeldern "Fertigungstechnik und Automatisierungstechnik" sowie "Mechatronik" erprobt. In die im Projekt erstellte  Kompetenzmatrix können die Lernergebnisse des Mobilitätsteilnehmers/der Mobilitätsteilnehmerin bei Antritt der Mobilität sowie jene der gesamten Qualifikation eingezeichnet werden. Die Zuordnung von ECVET-Punkten sowie die Erstellung von Transferdokumenten wurden ebenso pilotiert.

The aim of this project was to develop a procedure for the credit transfer of qualifications acquired at school and company level within the framework of vocational education and training of the upper secondary sector. The procedure was tested by the example of qualifications from the occupational fields "manufacturing technology and automation technology" and "mechatronics". In the competence matrix produced during the project the learning outcomes that mobile learners have at the time of their mobility stay can be recorded as can be the  profile of the entire qualification. The pilot also comprised the allocation of ECVET-points and the preparation of transfer documents.
