Who we are
Towards the end of June 2019, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research appointed ibw as an NQF service unit. ibw can therefore submit requests for the allocation of non-formal qualifications to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
ibw has many years of extensive experience in the field of the NQF. It has prepared a large number of academic papers and has been significantly involved in an advisory capacity in the development of the NQF (Link). For several years now, ibw has also been supporting qualification developments and quality assurance processes that have been initiated following the establishment of the NQF or in preparation for the allocation process.
ibw also contributes its experience gained from the NQF projects to the work of the NQF service unit. Here ibw focuses on non-formal qualifications on all NQF levels that
- have a vocational orientation,
- can be allocated to the areas of technology, small crafts and trades, industry-related services such as commerce, tourism, business and administration, and to the area of management and communication,
- are offered by the following institutions:
- recognised adult learning institutions pursuant to the Adult Education Funding Act or in accordance with the notification supplementing it or
- organisations that have set up a recognised quality management system or quality assurance procedure (e.g. CERT-NÖ, OÖ-EBQS, S-QS, wien-cert), or
- recognised professional associations.
What we do and what we offer
The NQF service unit at ibw advises providers of non-formal qualifications on the allocation of qualifications and is responsible for their quality assurance. Impartiality and professionalism towards the qualification provider as well as reliability towards the NQF bodies are central working principles of the NQF service unit at ibw.
Specifically, the NQF service unit offers not only free initial advice but also various service packages - from the basic package (review of the allocation request) to the development package (further development of the qualification to establish NQF compatibility). Further information on the services provided by the NQF service unit at ibw can be found in the Leitlinien. Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen, Abläufe und Arbeitsprinzipien (available only in German).
