Relevant analyses of the two reference sectors "motor vehicle production" and "motor vehicle service" show that these are characterised by very domain-specific competence profiles; formal access options and permeability to the tertiary education sector only exist in part so far, however. Developments of a regional and informal nature may serve as examples. By examining the example of the automotive sector the project subsequently pursued the objective of developing a concept and procedures which specifically target a sector-specific linking of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the national NQF with the requirements of the recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning. Another objective was to develop domain-related suggestions about the possibility of linking the tertiary education sector with the sector-specific EQF.

Fachenglisch Training für die holzverarbeitende Industrie

    EU-Projekt, 2011

Due to the globalisation of markets, the competitiveness of companies in the wood-processing industry is increasingly characterised by their staff’s foreign language skills. The VETWOOD project aimed to develop learning materials in English in cooperation with several European countries. The textbooks and workbooks and the online tool which was specifically developed for language teaching help apprentices, students and specialised staff improve their English language skills, particularly their specialist vocabulary. The project products are accessible on the project website.

Anwendung des Vocational Qualification Transfer System – Modells für Ausbildungen im öffentlichen Gesundheitswesen

    EU-Projekt, 2011

This project transfered an innovative and systematic model, the Vocational Qualification Transfer System (VQTS), to training programmes in public health. In this process, acquired vocational qualifications and already implemented steps of work in a training course were made transparent by describing learning outcomes. In addition, ECVET (European credit transfer system for vocational education and training) points were assigned for acquired knowledge and skills. This quantitative assessment of learning outcomes served as an example for how credits can be given for (partial) qualifications in other countries.
